和光 本店で「ギメル サファイアジュエリーコレクション」が開催されます。
9月の誕生石のサファイアは、「青」を意味するラテン語の「サッピールス（sapphirussapphirus）」に由来しています。サファイアといえば鮮やかなブルーを思い浮かべる方が多いと思いますが、同じ鉱物からできていても赤色だけはルビー、それ以外の色はすべてサファイアと呼ばれています。
ブルーの中でもロイヤルブルーと呼ばれる濃いブルーは英国王室の色として知られ、チャールズ皇太子が故ダイアナ妃に贈った婚約指輪がサファイアであったことは有名です。
いくつかある産地の中でも特に希少で高価なものがカシミール産で、彩度が高く上品で落ち着いたブルーが美しいサファイアです。
今回はリングに仕立てたカシミール産のサファイアをはじめ、いろいろな色のサファイアでリング、ペンダント、ピンズ、ブローチ等をお楽しみいただけます。

婦人画報 創刊１１８周年記念７月号（２０２３年６月１日発売）『卓越したクラフトマンシップが可能にする愛しき輝き』にGimel の朝顔のブローチが掲載されました。
１９９７年にChristie’s 香港の表紙を飾った朝顔のブローチは、美しいグラデーションで大きな話題となり、ギメルを代表するモチーフのひとつとなりました。
暑い夏に爽やかな朝の始まりを告げてくれる朝顔です。
Gimel’s Morning Glory brooch was featured in Fujingaho -“Lovely brilliance made possible by outstanding craftsmanship”- issued in July 118th anniversary (released on 1st June 2023)
The Morning Glory brooch with its beautiful gradation made the top cover page of Hong Kong Christie’s in 1997 with great sensation and it became one of the predominant motifs representing Gimel.
This Morning Glory announces the beginning of a refreshing morning in the hot summer.

名古屋市科学館 特別展「宝石」—地球がうみだすキセキ—27.June.2022
東京・上野の国立科学博物館で開催された特別展「宝石」－地球がうみだすキセキ－は想像以上にたくさんの方にお越しいただき、私達も多くの方にご覧いただけましたことをとても嬉しく思います。

Special Exhibition “GEM “ – A miracle created by the earth –
Nagoya City Science Museum
We are very pleased that more people than we had expected visited the Special Exhibition “GEM “ A miracle created by the earth held at the National Science Museum in Ueno, Tokyo.
The location will be moved to Aichi Prefecture from next month. It will be held at Nagoya City Science Museum beginning Saturday, 9th July through Monday, 19th September 2022.
We are planning to exhibit 60 pieces of Gimel’s jewelry including a humorous unicycle pin using trapiche emerald with rare patterns created during the process of raw stone’s growth. We look forward to seeing you at the Nagoya exhibit.

ギメルはかねてより、素材価値の上昇や、地金相場の高騰、為替の変動といった様々なコストの上昇を、企業努力を積み重ねることで吸収し、価格の維持に努めてまいりました。

家庭画報５月号（2022年4月1日発売）『ジュエリーの真髄を知る』にGimel のミツバチハートのシリーズが掲載されました。
ミツバチハートのシリーズは、Gimel がブランドデビューした当時から３０年以上愛され続けているデザインです。プラチナ地金を、高強度の六角形の蜂の巣状に抜くことにより、ダイアモンドを支える金属部分を極限まで削りとり、そこに宝石をセッティングしています。これはアジュール（裏取り）と呼ばれ、ダイアモンドに裏側からも光を取り込み、宝石が本来持っている輝きを引き出す技法です。さらに裏側も表面と同じ鏡面仕上げをしているので、ダイアモンドの放つ光がミラー効果によってさらに輝くのです。
ジュエリーやアクセサリーが大量につくられる時代の流れに逆らって、手間ひまをかけて丁寧に仕上げられたGimel のジュエリーは、まさに「職人の手技が生む唯一無二の輝き」と言えるかもしれません。
Gimel’s bee heart series was featured in Kateigahou “Knowing the essence of jewelry” issued in May (released on 1st April, 2022)
The bee heart series is a design which has been loved for over 30 years since Gimel’s brand has debuted.
By pulling out the platinum bullion into a high strength hexagonal honeycomb, the metal part which supports the diamond is scraped to the utmost limit, and the jewel is set there. This is called azur (lining), and it is a technique which takes a light from the back side and brings out the original brilliance of the gemstones.
Furthermore, the back side has the same mirror finish as the front side, the diamond shines more by the mirror effect.
Gimel’s jewelries might be said “the one and only brilliance which was created by craftsmanship” as they are carefully finished with time and effort against the trend of a large number of jewelries and accessories are made.
国立科学博物館 特別展「宝石」 地球がうみだすキセキ22.March.2022
2022年2月19日（土）から6月19日（日）まで、東京・上野の国立科学博物館で特別展「宝石」が開催されます。
約200種のラフ（原石）やルース（磨いた石）を一同に紹介、その生い立ちから輝きの秘密まで、科学的に宝石のことがわかる展覧会です。

Special Exhibition “GEM “ A miracle created by the earth”
National Museum of Nature and Science
Special Exhibition “GEM” will be held at National Museum of Nature and Science (Ueno Park, Tokyo) from Saturday, 19th February, 2022 to Sunday, 19th June, 2022.
About 200 rough stones and loose stones will be exhibited together, you can see the background of Jewelleries and the secrets of their shine scientifically.
We are planning to exhibit 60 pieces of Gimel’s jewelry including pleasant unicycle pin using trapiche emerald with rare patterns due to the process of raw stone’s growth. Don’t miss it!

純金の空気の器21.July.2021
Topicsで以前ご紹介した、空気の器。このたのしいアート作品に遊び心を刺激されて、ギメルから純金の空気の器を発売しました。構想から約1年半。0.05ｍｍという髪の毛ほどの薄さの24金の板をカットして出来上がったのが、純金の空気の器です。
器がどんな形になるのかは、つくる人の感性で。ギフトにも最適です。

未曽有のコロナ禍で、日常の生活すらままならなくなって早や一年が過ぎようとしています。そういうなか、ジュエリーは心を潤し、毎日の生活に彩りを添えてくれる、そして希望を与えてくれる―と信じて、色彩豊かなカラーストーンを使った作品をつくってきました。私たちの生活様式がどんなに変わっても、うららかな春はまた巡って来て、鳥や生きものたちの尊い命はつながっていきます。ロバート・ブラウニングの『春の朝』にあるように、“すべて世は事もなし”と言える日が来ますように。
Dreams and hopes entrusted upon brilliance – beauty enriches heart (Katei Gaho April Edition)
It has been more than a year since our way of life has been disrupted by Covid-19. Throughout these trying times, we at Gimel have kept ourselves busy creating jewelry pieces with various colorful gemstones with a strong belief that jewelry enriches our heart, adds color to daily routines and brings hope. No matter how our life may change as the result of this disruption, Spring does come around and the lives of birds and animals are passed down to the next generations. We sincerely hope the world will soon be back to normal just as Robert Browning’s famous poem which ends “All’s right with the world”.
世界に色を — サファイアのネックレス（家庭画報4月号掲載）
昨年の8月、ドイツの宝石商の友人が、「COVID-19で時間ができたおかげで、タイでこんなにカラフルなサファイアを集められたよ」と興奮気味に連絡をくれました。「これは当然ナチュラルよね」と返すと一瞬絶句した彼が「待って、時間はあるから…」。そして10月になって彼から「出来た！（Done!）」と連絡があってこのサファイア達はギメルの仲間になりました。1ピースずつラボに持ち込み、非加熱であることを確かめてからカット、シェイプを整えてと大変な苦労をしたようでしたが、友人は、君のおかげで時間を潰せたよ。楽しい試みだった、と笑って喜んでくれました。というわけで、こういう時だから出来た素晴らしいネックレスになりました。
Sapphires Necklace (From Katei Gaho April Edition)
One day in last August, a German jewelry trader friend of mine contacted me and told me excitedly that he was able to collect this many sapphires in Thailand thanks to some down time created by Covid-19. When I asked him, “They are, of course, unheated stones, aren’ they?” He lost his words for a moment and said, “I have lots of time, so just wait, will you?” About two months later, he contacted me with a word “done”. That is how these stones became Gimel’s gems. He must have spent enormous time and effort by examining each piece in his lab making sure that the stones had not been heated, then sort them out for cut and shape. He then told me that it was a fun project thanks to me. This beautiful necklace was made possible due to an extraordinary circumstances caused by Covid-19.

干し柿づくり28.November.2020
去年はじめてつくった干し柿が上手にできたので、今年はさらに100個追加して600個の柿を吊るしました。干してから3日目になるときゅっと身が縮み、2週間ほどしたら食べ頃です。普通の干し柿と違い半生の状態でいただくので、中はとろりとして上品な甘みがあります。
柿は佐渡ヶ島のおけさ柿で、干し柿専用のクリップとハンガーは佐渡JAで使っている特注品をわけてもらったものです。当日集まってくれた12人の剝き方にも個性が出て、だれが上手だとか、これは不細工ね、などと会話しながらの作業がまた楽しいのです。600個を吊るした軒先の景色は紅葉と相まって圧巻でした。
お知り合いの皆さんにも季節の滋味あふれる味をお届けしたくてお裾分けをしていたら、今年もあっという間に無くなってしまいました。
そして、12月はいよいよ味噌づくりが始まります。
Making “Hoshigaki”, Dried Persimmons – A Japanese Delicacy
After a huge success in making Hoshigaki last year for the first time, we decided to give it another try again this year. We peeled and hung 600 persimmons, 100 more than last year. After three days underneath the eaves, they shriveled up to about half of the original size and were ready to eat in two weeks, a bit shorter than normal. We harvest them a little sooner because we prefer them to be more juicy, the kind which melts in the mouth with its fine texture and delicately sweet flavor.
The fruits we used are “Okesa-gaki” persimmons grown in Sado island of Niigata prefecture. JA (Japan Agricultural Cooperatives) Sado was so kind as to offer us some of their custom-made clips and hangers exclusive for making Hoshigaki. Twelve people joined this event and had a good time talking over the peeled persimmons piled on the table praising or criticizing the varying shapes of peeled fruits. It seems the shape of fruits represent the character of the person who peeled them.
The line up of 600 persimmons hung neatly under the eaves and colored leaves on the background made the entire scenery a real masterpiece on the balcony.
This year again, the Hoshigaki have gone in no time while I was sending them out this seasonal and flavorful delicacy to my friends, acquaintances and staff.
Now December is upon us, and it is time to start making homemade Miso paste.
